This policy explains what information RankToday collects when you visit ranktoday.com, fill in a form, run our free SEO audit, book a call or contact us, what we use it for, and the choices you have. RankToday is a digital marketing agency based in Washington, DC, and when this policy says “we” or “us” it means RankToday. Our AI SEO Chrome extension has its own policy, which you can read on the Chrome extension privacy policy page.

Information we collect

We collect information you give us directly, such as your name, email address, phone number, company name, website address and the message you write when you fill in a contact form, request a proposal, book a call or email us. When you run the free SEO audit we receive the website address you enter and the results we generate for it.

We also collect some information automatically when you browse the site, such as the pages you visit, the page that sent you here, your browser and device type, an approximate location based on your IP address, and the buttons you click, for example “Book a call” or a phone number. This comes from analytics and security tools described in the cookies section below.

How we use your information

We use the information to reply to you, run the audit you asked for, prepare proposals, schedule and hold calls, provide the services you hire us for, send you messages you asked to receive, keep the site secure and working, and understand which pages and campaigns bring in enquiries so we can improve them. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the details you submit in a form for anything unrelated to your request or our work together.

Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers that help us run the site and our business, and only as much as they need to do that job:

  • WP Engine, which hosts the website, and Cloudflare, which protects it and speeds it up.
  • Google, for Google Analytics, which measures how the site is used, and Google reCAPTCHA, which stops spam on our forms.
  • Cal.com, when you book a call through our scheduling link.
  • Our email and business software, used to store and answer your messages.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, in which case the new owner would have to respect this policy.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use a small number of them, along with your browser’s local storage, for the purposes below.

Name or tool Provider What it does Type
_ga, _ga_* Google Analytics Counts visits and shows which pages and sources lead to enquiries. Google says these cookies can last up to 2 years. Analytics
__cf_bm Cloudflare Tells real visitors apart from bots to protect the site. Lasts about 30 minutes. Strictly necessary
reCAPTCHA cookies Google Checks that a form is being filled in by a person, not a spam bot. Strictly necessary
rtx_last, rt_audit_started (local storage) RankToday Remembers that you have already seen our audit popup or started an audit, so we do not show it to you again too soon. Functional
wordpress_*, wp-settings-* WordPress Only set if you log in to the site’s admin area. Strictly necessary

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work, although some features such as spam protection on forms may stop working. You can also stop Google Analytics from measuring your visits with Google’s Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services on Google’s partner sites page.

How long we keep information

We keep enquiries and audit requests for as long as we need them to reply and follow up, and client records for as long as we work together and afterwards for the time required by tax and accounting rules. Analytics data is kept according to the retention setting in Google Analytics. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

Your rights and choices

You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop sending you marketing messages, and every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom you also have the right to object to or restrict how we use your information, to ask for a copy in a portable format, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We rely on your consent, on steps you ask us to take before entering a contract, or on our legitimate interest in running and improving our business, depending on the purpose. If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law, such as California, you can make the same requests, and we will not treat you differently for doing so. To make a request, email us at the address below and we will reply within 30 days.

Security, children and international visitors

The site uses encrypted HTTPS connections, and we limit access to personal information to the people who need it to do their work, although no website can guarantee complete security. The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. We are based in the United States, so if you contact us from another country your information will be processed in the United States.
